The Puppy You've
Been Waiting For.
I remember the first time I saw a Cavapoo puppy in real life. This little fluffy ball of curls, with big, soulful eyes, trotted up to me like I was its long-lost best friend. Five seconds in, I was completely smitten. Cavapoo full grown.
Fast forward a few months, and I had my own Cavapoo pup. Those early days were a blur of potty training, puppy zoomies, and endless cuddles. But in the back of my mind, I kept wondering: What’s she going to be like full grown?
If you’re asking yourself the same thing, you’re not alone! Whether you’re thinking about bringing a Cavapoo into your life or already in the thick of the puppy phase (hang in there!), let’s dive into everything you need to know about a Cavapoo full grown—from size and temperament to training, grooming, and daily life.
If you’re hoping for a forever tiny dog, you might need to adjust your expectations just a little. While they do stay small and compact, Cavapoos have a range of sizes depending on which Poodle parent they come from:
🐶 Toy Cavapoo (bred from a Toy Poodle parent) – Weighs 7-13 lbs and stands 9-12 inches tall.
🐾 Mini Cavapoo (bred from a Miniature Poodle parent) – Weighs 13-25 lbs and stands 12-16 inches tall.
Most Cavapoos end up somewhere in the middle, but genetics are tricky, so there’s always a little variation. One thing’s for sure—whether they land on the petite side or grow a bit bigger than expected, they stay adorable forever.
If I had to describe a Cavapoo’s personality in one word, it would be loyal. These dogs form deep, inseparable bonds with their people.
🐾 Endlessly Affectionate – If you don’t like a dog following you everywhere, a Cavapoo isn’t for you. These pups are true Velcro dogs, always wanting to be near their humans.
💡 Super Smart & Easy to Train – Their Poodle genes make them quick learners, but their Cavalier side gives them a sweet, eager-to-please nature. That combo makes for an incredibly trainable dog.
🐕 Moderate Energy Levels – As puppies, Cavapoos can be wild little creatures. But by the time they reach adulthood, they settle into a manageable energy level.
🚪 Not a Fan of Being Left Alone – Because they bond so deeply, Cavapoos don’t do well with long hours alone. They’re happiest in homes where someone is around most of the time.
Does that sound like the kind of dog you’re looking for? If so, you’re in luck—because there’s really no better companion dog than a Cavapoo full grown!
One of the great things about Cavapoos? They don’t need a crazy amount of exercise to stay happy.
🎾 20-30 minutes of walking each day is perfect.
🐕🦺 Playtime in the house or backyard keeps them engaged.
🧠 Puzzle toys & brain games help burn off mental energy.
Most Cavapoos are perfectly content with a couple of short walks and some snuggle time on the couch.
A Cavapoo full grown is considered low-shedding, but that doesn’t mean low-maintenance! Their coat requires regular grooming to prevent tangles and mats.
✂️ Brush 2-3 times a week to avoid knots.
🐾 Trim every 4-6 weeks at a professional groomer.
🛁 Baths every few weeks keep their coat soft and clean.
If you love the fluffy teddy bear look, keep their coat longer. But if you prefer a low-maintenance style, go for a shorter cut.
Because Cavapoos are so smart and people-oriented, training is usually smooth sailing. They love to make their owners happy, so positive reinforcement works wonders.
✔️ House training? They catch on quickly (especially if started early).
✔️ Basic commands? They’ll master “sit,” “stay,” and “leave it” in no time.
✔️ Off-leash reliability? They’re eager to please but can get distracted, so recall training is a must.

Not really! They’re generally quiet, but they’ll bark if something’s off—like a stranger at the door.
Yes! They’re gentle, patient, and playful—great for families with young children.
On average, they live 12-15 years—sometimes longer with proper care!
Before you fall head over heels for those big brown eyes, ask yourself:
✔️ Do I want a loving, people-oriented dog?
✔️ Am I okay with a dog that follows me everywhere?
✔️ Can I commit to grooming every 4-6 weeks?

If you’re nodding along, a Cavapoo full grown might be exactly what you need!
